Have you already found the dress but its not quite perfect yet? Most brides will need some alterations to make their dress perfect, if the dress isn’t made-to-measure. From the most basic needs of taking up a hem or sleeve, taking in the bodice or adding a bustle for the train, a wedding gown that fits correctly will make you feel amazing and comfortable on your big day.
There can be a lot of scope with alterations and the ability to completely transform a gown, by changing a neckline or fastening, or even creating a completely new lace cover up to go perfectly with the dress. Each dress will be different, so it is always best to book a consultation to find out exactly what can be done.
There will often be 2-4 appointments depending on the work that needs doing, it is always best to take our time to make sure everything is perfect:
- 1st fitting – This will be to determine what needs doing, what you would like (it’s always best to be as honest as possible, so we can make sure you get exactly what you want). I will give you a quote at this time, with payment due at the end of the process when the alterations are finished.
-2nd/3rd fitting – The alterations will often be tacked (temporarily stitched) at this stage, so final tweaks can be made before the final stitching.
-Final fitting – All the work will be finished at this stage, you will try on your dress a final time to make sure everything is perfect before your wedding day.
Booking 2-3 months ahead of your wedding date is advisable, particularly in the summer months when it can be very busy.
*Remember to bring your shoes and the underwear you plan on wearing with your dress to every appointment, as this can affect the fit and length of your dress.
